ASCOL 2008 Conference

Scotland's Colleges: Creating value

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 June 2008

Fairmont St Andrews Hotel

Welcome

I am delighted to invite you to the annual Association of Scotland’s Colleges conference Scotland’s Colleges: Creating Value which we anticipate will be one of the year’s highlights for those involved with further and higher education.ian_macpherson

This year the conference moves to St Andrews. The conference will see representatives of Scotland’s colleges and those involved in education, training, employability and innovation meet to focus on the theme of public value. Public value is an emerging conceptual framework, which when applied to the learning and skills sector, attempts to encapsulate a broader recognition of the value of learning.

The conference will hear from a variety of keynote speakers from education, the media and politics. It will allow delegates to participate in workshops examining different public value themes. There will also be the usual opportunities to network with friends and colleagues from within the sector.

This year’s event will take place at the Fairmont in St Andrews. This fantastic venue benefits from a stunning location with panoramic views of the Eden estuary and the medieval skyline of St Andrews. It is easily accessible by car and the train station at Leuchars is a short bus or taxi journey away. We hope that you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there
